On the south shore of Galway Bay, an older man is sitting on an ancient stone bollard with his face buried in his hands and sobbing. A woman asks if he needs help, to which he says no and holds back his tears. She inquires if he is a foreigner, and he denies it and says he is a Briton who lives in the capital. From there begins the compelling "Tragedy of an Elderly Gentleman," set in 300 AD.
